This will make 6 1/2 cup servings of oatmeal.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups uncooked rolled or steel cut oats ( use gluten free oats if applicable)
- 1 1/2 cups of
homemade apple sauce or unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup of diced apples ( granny smith or honey crisp)
- 6 TBS of walnuts
- 6 TBS of maple syrup
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk or any other plant based milk of choice
Directions:
- Place 6 small containers or 6 mason jars with lids on the counter.
- Prepare the oatmeal according to package*
- Once the oatmeal is cooked add the cooked oatmeal to each container—approx. ½ cup.
- Top each oatmeal container with 1/4 cup of applesauce
- Top each container with 1 TBS of walnuts, 1 TBS of maple syrup, and 1-2 TBS of dairy free milk.
- Top with about 2 TBS of diced apples and sprinkle with cinnamon
- Cover tightly and store up to 6 days in fridge
- When you are ready to eat, heat the containers in the microwave for two minutes stirring once.
Notes:
Using a rice cooker is a great way to make the steel cut oatmeal. Feel free to add any other toppings of choice! We love preparing these on Sunday and keeping them as a quick and easy breakfast option. This helps us stay on track all week!
